• Offer transferable learning, demonstrating
potential for adoption in other services or regions,
helping even more people.
These priorities link closely to Macmillan’s mission
to ensure that every person with cancer gets care
that meets their needs, reduces unnecessary
variation and focuses support where it’s needed
most.
Macmillan’s support for the Advancing Healthcare
Awards isn’t only about celebrating good work
– it’s also about helping the whole system learn
and improve. By bringing together inspiring ideas
and highlighting what works well, these awards
help spark new thinking and encourage others to
adopt successful approaches. Most importantly,
they showcase the vital role AHPs and healthcare
scientists play throughout the cancer journey, from
diagnosis to end-of-life care. We are immensely
proud to be part of that celebration.
If you or your team are improving cancer care in any
way – through a new approach, smarter teamwork
or better support for people affected by cancer – we
encourage you to apply. Your work could inspire
services across the UK and help shape the future of
cancer care.

by BAPO British Association of Prosthetics and
Orthotics is now in its 4th year with the UK awards
programme. We asked Chair of BAPO Dr Nicky
Eddision to tell us what BAPO is looking for from
entrants:
“BAPO is seeking submissions that clearly
demonstrate measurable benefit to the prosthetics
and orthotics profession, including improvements
in patient outcomes, wider service impact, and
meaningful advancements for the profession as a
whole.
We are looking for innovative ways of working,
alongside sustainable and transferable approaches,
effective leadership and teamwork, and creative
and innovative use of resources to deliver
meaningful impact.
This category is open to the entire UK prosthetics
and orthotics workforce and industry partners. It
is vital that we showcase the outstanding work our
profession delivers to improve patient care and
strengthen the profession as a whole.”
